Our Montana Tiny Home

Living in a tiny home might not be for everyone, but for us, it's has allowed us the freedom to make big life decisions and an affordable - and comfortable - roof over our heads. We built our 26' tiny house by hand during our artist residency at Pleasant Hill Pottery in Eugene, Oregon. After completing it, we moved it to my partner's family property in Columbia Falls, Montana, where we've been living since August 2022.

This winter was a true test of our little abode's design, as we experienced -29-degree temperatures. Thankfully, we built our tiny home intentionally for winter weather, and it has proven to be a cozy and comfortable space to call home. We incorporated spray foam insulation, and the windows are double-paned, which helps keep the heat in. Our mini split has been a champ this winter, but we plan on installing a wood stove over the summer for next season.

While our tiny home may have a simple design, we have incorporated plenty of storage space to make sure everything has a place. Living in small spaces before, we've learned the importance of keeping our possessions minimal and having a spot for everything. Our little abode has a full kitchen, a comfortable living space, and a lofted bedroom that feels like a cozy retreat. It’s even big enough for a king size bed!

Overall, our experience living in a tiny home has been amazing. We've learned to be mindful of our belongings, appreciate the small things, and make the most of the space we have. We'd love to share our experience and help you on your tiny home journey!
