Kitchen Sink Natural Dyes

Kitchen Sink Dyes is a class that teaches students how to create natural dyes using everyday kitchen waste. This family friendly class will focus on using onion skins and avocado pits and skins, but the instructor will also discuss other materials that can be used. Participants will receive 4 pre-prepared cotton bandanas and will learn the basics of preparing a dye bath, including using modifiers and techniques to achieve various patterns and colors on the material. This class is suitable for beginners, those looking to expand their knowledge of natural dyeing, or anyone interested in a sustainable and colorful way to repurpose kitchen scraps. Recommended to bring your own journal and pen/pencil for note taking.
